Michael Walkley – Joker

Why joker?

With the styles we fish, a centre console is the perfect option! When lure fishing, being able to stand on the forward platform and cast away without any hinderance is a great feature. It adds a game changing element to targeting fish with lures, not only for casting but chasing down fish, which we recently did on our first marlin – sitting up the front and chasing the fish down rather than backing up into the swell. You get the benefit of a full walk around with the stability to boot, with the extended chines and widened gunnels. In my opinion, it’s the perfect boat!

It is the best boat we have had and is such a perfect fit over in Fiji, such an eye grabber that can handle all types of weather which can change in a moment. We use it for day cruising, sight-seeing, island hoping, and game fishing and it fits every purpose!

Team Surf Candy – Grant, Max & Tim

Wow! Can’t say enough about the team at FC Boats – from our online research and then a visit to the Boat Show to talk over a New FC430 with a few customer requests added into the mix

Our desire to have a fit for purpose package was embraced by Max and his team in the fabrication department with great attention to detail

We wanted a light, stable, versatile, and Safe small boat to do Saltwater and fresh water fly fishing and to be able to get outside to jig and stick bait for bigger pelagic fish as well

The FC430 is highly versatile for us fishing the flats in Golden Bay or the North Island harbours for Kingfish, snapper and other saltwater species on fly thru to targeting structures in the open, equally at home on the lakes and rivers throughout both Islands

The Riptide Minn-Kota is an incredible must have and we would never be without one

Wisper silent sneaking up in roaming fish in knee deep water on the flats and lake edges to the GPS on the Minn-Kota holding position over structure or fighting the big one in the open, it’s just fantastic

Working thru the design with the team at FC Boats was effortless a couple of visits to the shop to make small adjustments did not phase them and gave me a great sense of ‘buy in’ to the project

Its true “Boats built by Fisherman for Fisherman”

Thanks Ross and Max (Team FC) for an outstanding FC430 it looks great and fishes better

I am very happy with the boat – easy to tow, launch, retrieve and handle Even my wife can winch it on the trailer in adverse conditions – It is a pleasure to own at our stage of life.

Mark and Marjorie Furey

Our experience owning an FC 500 soon had us looking at a slightly bigger boat to accommodate the Family needs; the four F’s, Fishing, Food, Family & Fun.

The FC 560cc ticked all the boxes and the way we set our boat up, it easily transitions between boating and fishing duties.

Four of us (two brothers & two wives) headed off to catch some fish in the early morning, the boat bristling with fishing rods and loaded with salt ice, bait and berley.

21 Snapper later we went off to Parua Bay wharf to collect friends, the rods were all horizontal on the Bimini top and all the fishing “wet-ware”, was out of sight in the 130 litre Icey-Tec seat. Other fishing essentials; net, fishing tools etc were also stowed out of sight in the ample storage areas.

Having made the successful transition from fishing to boating we collected our friends, one of whom had been sceptical of our choice of a Centre Console. In boating mode, we made our way across the harbour with two of the ladies enjoying the “princess seat” (70 litre Icey-Tec) in front of the console, 3 of us sharing the ample seating supplied by the 130 ltr bin while the sceptical one wandered around the spacious cockpit chatting and looking.

Arrived at Marsden Cove, all passengers alighted and enjoyed coffee and muffins while the FC560 sat quietly, out of the way, anchored with the Minn- Kota.

Arrived back at Parua Bay wharf to offload friends and hand over some of the nicely chilled snapper, as you do. The farewells were made with the FC 560 on the trailer but just before we headed our separate ways, the sceptical one’s last act was to measure the boat and trailer to see if he could fit one in his garage.

Another win for a great design.

After having been impressed by one of the original FC 430 hulls, and in the market for a new inshore boat, I bit the bullet and ordered a new FC 430 tiller-steer rig from Fish City, powered by a 40hp Mercury two-stroke. Fish City were very helpful with fit-out options and customising giving me the rig I wanted, with electric start, tilt-trim and extra keel-rub protection. I’ve now owned the boat for three years and have been very happy indeed with it’s performance.

For its size and class, it is an exceptional performer, running dry, soft and smooth. With a heap of reserve buoyancy, the safety aspects are well catered-for and the stability is impressive too. There are not many aluminium boats of this size that you can stand up and walk around in without causing a worrying list, but the 430 is one. My FC 430T has been the key to many happy days of boating and fishing from the Far North to the tip of the Coromandel. Love this boat!

Greg Mathews

To all those serious buyers who are making that hard decision between 2 or 3 different boat makers. I was in the same position in late 2015 and after careful discussions with my brother chose FC and I’m so glad I did.

I purchased the FC620HT and I remember the 1st outing, I had smile from ear to ear but it got better, I started to feel how safe, solid and roomy the boat actually was, I’m on the large side as is my bother and there is seriously a lot of room, the boat just felt meaty and solid and still to this day I have that feeling every time I use it.

When I say use it that we have, west coast is my playground and the FC is built for it, I have crossed the Raglan and Manukau bars with breaking waves on the way out and slice straight through them with little effort, very impressed. Have done multiple shelf missions, staying overnight and the cabin space is big and comfortable to add to the list. Rides awesome in the water all round, trolling which I have done a lot of now with marlin under the belt to, we average 7.5 to 9 litres per/hr at 7.5 knots, to me the boat feels like its part of the water and differently has the right vibration in the water because the fish just keep coming.

It has simply surprised me massively, it just keeps getting better and that was something I was not expecting. I highly recommend the FC brand and choose my model to suit the style of fishing I was interested in doing.

The team are a bunch of good guys and Ross allowed me to call past and see my boat being built a few times which was just amazing so thank you Ross and team for the amazing service and the amazing boat that keeps getting better.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FC BOATS

Amazing big little boat, with great capabilities. Taken it 20km offshore with 100% confidence. Remains comfortable during bar crossings and coming home through chop. Most importantly it’s a fish magnet. My biggest problem is not having enough time to use.

Richard Harris – Blow Out

The FC 700HT is the 4th boat I have owned and is by far the best.

The team at FC allowed me to make changes as it was being built, they were accommodating to my ideas throughout and the process was smooth and streamlined.

I would recommend anyone looking to build or buy a boat, to visit this fantastic boat supplier first.  I love how the boat handles in all weather conditions across the East and West Coasts. It is by far the safest boat I have travelled in across the Raglan bar.

The boat has been designed for multipurpose use including diving, fishing, skiing and overnighting, and works well for all these uses. I love my FC boat.

Gerry & Judy – Belfast Bhoy

We bought our FC595 in early November and Jason form Fish City Hamilton kindly delivered it to us in Tairua.  Most weekends and nearly every day over the summer break has seen someone in our family out in the boat. Whether its going ‘out wide’ past the Alderman Islands, chasing Kingi’s or tuna, or up the coast to Boat Harbour for family picnics, we couldn’t imagine another summer without it.

We’ve enjoyed it so much we’ve already clocked up our second service at 100 hours within the first three months! The guys at Fish City have been easy to deal with and very professional.

I think the only regret we have in buying our FC595 is that we didn’t do it earlier!

Robin Elliott – FANTA

I have owned my FC 597HT Hard Top (FANTA) for three years. I simply cannot fault it. The ride is dry, soft and the stability is superb.

I can’t fault the 115 HP 4 stroke Mercury either, plenty of power when you need it. It’s a good match for the boat. It tows well on the single axel trailer which makes maneuvering of the vehicle easy.

I get lots of favourable comments at the boat ramp.

As for the colour… Well, I’m easy to spot…

Garry Hawkins

I currently own an FC 430 tiller steer boat with a 40hp outboard with trim, tilt and electric start. I have owned a number of boats and wanted one that I could fish harbours, inshore and on the lakes in Rotorua. The boat has exceeded my expectations on all levels. It has so much room to move around in and I believe it has the largest fishing space of any boat of that size. I have also fitted a Minnkota and found this expands the versatility of fishing in all areas. All in all, I cannot fault it and are very happy.

Garry Hawkins – FC 430T

Graeme and Sam – SamBJ

Having owned a 6mtr plus hardtop for 11 years it was a hard choice to return back to a centre console. The original decision to transfer to a hard top was for the comfort of a then 3-year-old son. Now at 14 we’re all about fishability and function in a boat and wanted to go back to a boat that didn’t limit our launching options due to its size.

Our requirements for a new centre console were, 5m range, aluminium, 4 stroke motor, easy to launch, shallow draft, dry storage area, no catch point on gunnels for netting somewhere to cook our traditional fishing meal of bacon and eggs.

Having searched the market, we settled on the FC 535cc.
The FC 535cc met all our needs plus some – passive live bait tank, welded rod holders, high sides, wide gunnels, full transom to name but a few.

The boat is performing above our expectations and has opened many more fishing options for us. I’d recommend a FC 535cc to anyone that is looking for a functional, seaworthy vessel that offers the versatility that the FC does.

Juan Gregan – Breakaway II

I have had an FC 465 since 2015 and couldn’t be happier. We wanted a boat that could fish our small family, or my mates and me. It has delivered in every which way. I have used its stable platform for game fishing, bottom fishing, trout fishing, soft baiting as well as towing a ski biscuit.

They say FC boats are made for fishermen by fishermen. This is no lie; every inch of the boat offers you something from the easy layout of the controls and seating arrangement through to the transom. The rod holders on the sides are handy when towing on a long trip. Keeping those valuable rods and reels safe. From when I first set my eyes upon an FC boat I thought, I want one of those and it’s been the best decision.

Juan Gregan – FC 465

Greg Strachan – catchalotta

I purchased a FC 560cc just over 18 months ago and have used it extensively around the Hauraki Gulf and east coast of the Coromandel. (just under 200 hours to be precise) I am an avid fisherman and wanted a boat that I could easily handle by myself yet be able to take a bunch of mates out with relative ease.

The FC 560cc fits the bill perfectly. Previously I had owned a buccaneer 525 and really wanted something more stable when I had more than one person standing on the same side of the boat, the FC 560cc feels like a pontoon boat in that respect, it’s extremely stable at rest (especially with the keel flooded) and with multiple people hauling in fish it’s a great platform.

One concern I had with moving to a centre console was the boat being wet… I can attest that the FC 560cc is remarkably dry, in fact, as dry if not more than my buccaneer. Beyond the boat being easy to handle and being very stable, some key features I would highly recommend considering purchasing is a Minn-Kota motor and Mercury CT option. The Minn- Kota electric motor is used every time I use the boat, it’s simply awesome and a must have accessory. I can easily launch the boat by myself at a local ramp while the boat and dog wait patiently out in the water while I park the car. As the Minn- Kota has an in-built GPS function I have used the anchor once in 18 months.

The Mercury command thrust CT option is also well worth the extra spend, the extra-large prop and torpedo give precise turning and enable the boat to get up and go. either pulling teens up on a wakeboard or heading out over a bar. Support, post sale was excellent, Max was just a text away if needed and more than helpful.

Overall a very satisfied customer.

Jason Innes – Chillaxin

We love our FC 500ss side console as it has so much fishing space, we have had 6 fishing from it. I’m not sure if there is another 5m boat around that could cater for that.

Another asset we really like about our boat is the high sides as this has made it a lot safer for my kids (4.5yrs and 1.5yrs old) to be on, the sides are at chest height which all but eliminates any chance of them going over.

The hull design makes it extremely stable at rest and we have had it in some sloppy conditions out from Raglan and it has never been a problem. We look forward to a lot more great times in our “big” little boat.

Bruce Horrox – On the job

Having purchased the FC 560 Cuddy Cabin, with a 115hp Mercury, in 2015, we have found the boat to be an amazing amount of pleasure. This being our first boat, it has exceeded our expectations from the day of purchase. It is easy to tow, easy to launch and easy to operate. The boat rides well and you feel comfortable in choppy conditions with the added ability of being able to retain water in the hull to give the extra weight required to help stabilize the boat in the water. The FC gives us plenty of room to comfortably be able to fish four from the cockpit, so the family gets to enjoy the pleasure as well. The only downside is not being able to get out on the water more often.

Dan Hogarth – ON DA ROCKS

I love my little FC 430T (Tiller Steer)!

I mainly lure fish out of Tauranga and you need a good stable boat down here as most of the time I’m standing and actively fishing. It’s small, stealthy and with the Minnkota it’s great for hunting in the harbour shallows. I’m also more than happy sitting many kilometres off the coast. It’s a great looking little boat and always gets plenty of attention and compliments. I’ve been fishing out of small alloy tinnys most of my life, but these are nothing like the tinnys of old. Would and do totally recommend them.

There’s probably not too many people who know the FC 535cc Centre Console like I do. We have taken our FC 535cc Centre Console Buoysterous on some adventures…… through the hole in the rock Bay of Islands, The Poor Knight Islands, Rangitoto, Waiheke and Mayor Island on many occasions as well as many regular fishing and diving adventures in the Coromandel and Bay of Plenty. Not to mention wakeboarding and biscuiting fun on Taupo and the Rotorua lakes. In a few words, the boat is capable, roomy and about the best value for money you can get!

Peter & Jayne Kearney – True Blue

In October 2017 we purchased a high optioned, ex-demonstrator FC 595 Cuddy Cabin from Fish City Albany.  We had previously owned (for three years) a FC 430cc Centre Console from new and it had been a very roomy and versatile boat which we took to a lot of locations in Northland, Coromandel and Hauraki Gulf.

We were wanting to up size to give ourselves more comfort, shelter and extended range and with the possibility of staying overnight.  We made a shortlist of requirements and did look at other brands, initially focusing on hard top designs. Our preference was for a new boat so that we could enjoy the latest technology in four stroke outboards, GPS/fish finders and hull design.

Here is what we like about the FC 595 Cuddy Cabin which ticks all those wish list requirements.

  • Big enough for four adults or three adults and two little children for day fishing, but super roomy if there is only two of you.
  • Can be launched and handled by only two people.
  • With the optional Bimini top and side clears, it gives similar amount of shelter as a hard top but with several hundred kilos less weight.
  • Has a lower centre of gravity than a hard top and tows well on a single axle trailer.
  • Most of the time we tow it with a 2.5 litre Mazda 6 wagon.
  • Has an anchor winch which you appreciate when you are nearly 60.
  • Bunk extensions which give you 1.9 metre length berths, so sleeping overnight (or a daytime nap) is possible.
  • Underfloor fuel tank which holds 100 litres and without the clutter of tote tanks.
  • Huge foredeck which is great for casting or sun bathing.  The generous overhang on the foredeck helps to make it a very dry boat in rougher weather.
  • A hull design that is stable at rest and does not require excessive power to drive it.  We have 90 HP four stroke outboard and can still exceed 30 knots in calm water with three people and fishing gear on board. We did the research on other brand motors and the Mercury four strokes are in a class of their own.  Exceptionally quiet and smooth, the 90 HP is a large displacement 2.1 litre in-line four that pumps out heaps of torque in the mid-range. 20 knots is comfortable and economical cruising speed running at 4000 revs/min.
  • With a navy blue painted hull, white cabin a dark grey anti-slip deck coating, plus a high quality of welding and build, it is a rugged but good-looking boat.

In summary, these boats are as good as the manufacturers claim and the excellent service that we received with our first boat is why we went back to Fish City Albany for the second.

A big Thankyou to the team at FC Boats and Fish City, I purchased my FC 430cc just over a year ago from the Albany branch, after both being on a friend’s one and being in the marine trade myself I just had to have one! Over the last year she’s done hundreds of nautical miles and seen a lot of the North Island, she has been a great fishing boat and always gets positive comments on how much boat it is for its size, look forward too many more years fishing and bring on the next adventure, thanks team!

Leslie Tuilaepa – ” I haven’t named her yet, too busy fishing”

I did a lot of research before purchasing my first boat. My checklist included an alloy boat, small cubby for the kids, stability at rest, built in live bait tank, budget friendly, and able to withstand a minor chop and wind. After lots of googling, Trade me, reading reviews and visiting boat shows I settled on the FC 525 Cuddy Cabin. I have been out in all kinds of conditions and always felt safe in our little boat. When kids get bored they can chill in the undercover while the adults fish. Have also upgraded my motor to the 90hp four-stroke using only 1 25litre tank for entire days fishing. Very happy and will definitely look at getting a bigger boat through FC.”

Darren Kirkland – The Godfather

I have owned my FC 535cc centre console for around 6 months now and are extremely happy with it. I have now done around 70 hours on the engine so have been busy out there doing it. I can’t believe how practical the centre console has been. I have found that extra room of the centre console has been a big bonus. We have a family of four and it will easily fish all four of us with ease. I have had the odd occasion where I have had to fight the fish around the boat and this has been a breeze with the centre console. I have been though some rough conditions and bar crossings etc and found the boat to be a very stable platform. One of the best things I added to my boat was the Minnkota electric motor.

The time it has saved me anchoring and being able to sit over a work up etc has been brilliant. Something else that we as a family have really enjoyed over the summer has been getting the kids out on the water skis and biscuit, the boat has handled it no problems at all. I looked at a lot of boats and took about a year to finally decide on the boat that would suit my needs and honestly after six months of use I couldn’t be happier.

Just thought I’d drop you a quick message regarding our purchase of our FC 595 Cuddy Cabin.
With owning it just on a year now, I can safely say we are still rapt with our purchase! The boat keeps exceeding our expectations every time we use it. From the amazing stability at rest to it’s great ability to handle all sea conditions we take it out in. The quality of finish impresses all who have been out with us. Again, thanks to you and the team for the great service and fantastic boat.

I bought a FC 430cc Centre Console a year ago and loved it. I saltwater fish as well as saltwater fly fish and the boat ticks all the boxes! I upgraded to the FC 535cc Christmas just gone so I could get out a bit further for possibly bigger game fish. The boat is perfect if I was to ever change I would then go to the FC 560cc, awesome boats!!!
